Upon the invitation of Almazbek Atambayev the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Shavkat Mirziyoev the President of Uzbekistan paid a state visit to KR on September 5, 2017.

 

Within the framework of the two-day visit of the head of the Republic of Uzbekistan, bilateral talks were held in a narrow and expanded formats, where an exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues, including current regional and international issues of mutual interest, as well as prospects for further deepening of cooperation between the two countries.

 

On the first day of the visit of the head of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the ceremony of signing bilateral Kyrgyz-Uzbek documents took place in the State residence "Ala-Archa". In the presence of heads of states, Mr. Dikambaev Director of the NISI KR and Mr. Norov Director of the Institute for the Strategic and Interregional Research under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ISSIR), signed a memorandum of understanding between NISI and ISSIR. In addition, following the results of the talks, the following documents were signed:

 

-       Memorandum on cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

 

-       Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation and mutual assistance on compliance with tax legislation;

 

-       Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the activities of border representatives;

 

-       Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of higher education;

 

-       Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on scientific and technical cooperation;

 

-       Protocol on the exchange of instruments of ratification of the Consular Convention between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan;

 

-       Agreement between the Mayor of Osh city of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Khokimiyat of the city of Andijan of the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres;

 

-       Agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

 

-       Agreement between the City Hall of Bishkek and the Hokimiat of Tashkent;

 

-       Joint action plan of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on further deepening and expanding cooperation between the border regions for 2017-2019;

 

Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on interregional cooperation.

 

 Also, one of the most important agreements was signed - an agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek State border, which includes almost 85% of the total border space.

 

 "Only 15 percent will remain. The main thing is that we see now that we can agree once we have the wish and the political will" said Almazbek Atambaev.

 

 Shavkat Mirziyev invited his colleague in October to visit Tashkent. It is expected that most of the agreements will be implemented before the visit.
